Beach Walks
We have a number of very beautiful local beaches.
The nearest ones are a 35 to 50 minute walk down
approximately 400 metres of beautiful mountainside,
taking a mixture of dirt tracks, roads and steep
Kalderimi (ancient stone mule-tracks). We provide
printed guides, and Centre Volunteers can often show
the way.
For reasonably fit people, or for people who want
to get fit quite quickly, these beautiful walks are
often a highlight of their stay. It is not advisable
to try these walks if you have any leg or foot
injuries, or walking-related disabilities. Please
take a water-bottle and wear suitable footwear. (The
Pilion region has some areas of rugged terrain, and
we ask Visitors with physical conditions and
disabilities to take this into consideration.)

We are sometimes able to offer a
lift to and from Plaka Beach in the Centre van, and
for this we ask for 1 Euro (70p approx each way)
For people wanting to take a taxi to
any of the beaches this is best booked early in the
day, as the local drivers can get booked up. We can
help arrange this, or give you phone- numbers so you
can organise this yourself. Obviously sharing the
ride between four (or sometimes five!) people can
cut costs. Rates vary between high and low season.
